1/2 c. shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. milk
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 1/2 c flour
1 1/2 tsp crm of tartar
cream together shortening, sugar, and eggs. Add vanilla. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Bake at 400 5-7 min
